Smart Home Technology
Let's Work Together on High-End Properties
A partnership opportunity for electricians working on luxury residential projects
You've probably been asked to "sort out the smart home stuff" on a high-end project at some point?
Maybe it's lighting control throughout. Or whole-home audio. Or network infrastructure for a large property. Or all of the above.
You know how to run cables and install electrical systems brilliantly - that's your expertise. But technology infrastructure for luxury properties? That's a specialist field in its own right, with different standards, different design considerations and different equipment requirements.
You shouldn't have to become an expert in everything just to win the work.
Signal Flow - Your Technology Partner
We specialise exclusively in luxury residential technology systems. Lighting control, whole-home audio and video, networking, automated shading, integrated security - this is all we do, day in and day out.
We're not here to compete with you. We're here to work alongside you so you can both deliver an exceptional result and focus on what you do best.
The Problem We Keep Seeing
An electrician wins a fantastic high-end project. The client mentions they want "some smart features" but doesn't specify exactly what.
You want to work on the project because it will be good for your portfolio, so you:
- Run some Cat6 cables to locations that seem sensible
- Install speaker cable in a few rooms
- Maybe add some control cabling near light switches
- Hope it covers what they'll eventually want
Then months later when the client actually specifies their technology requirements:
- The cables are in the wrong locations
- Wrong cable types for what they actually need
- Missing infrastructure for motorisation, automated blinds, or control systems
- No structured approach to WiFi networking in a large property
It's not your fault. You're an electrical expert, not a technology infrastructure specialist. But the client is disappointed, and you're left trying to retrofit solutions in a finished property.
Here's How We Work Together
On Design:
- We discuss the client's likely technology requirements with you early on
- We provide a detailed specification of cables, conduits and backboxes needed
- You handle the installation as part of your electrical package
- We ensure it's designed to CEDIA standards (the global benchmark for residential technology)
On Installation:
- You run the power and electrical circuits - your expertise
- We coordinate the technology cabling specification with you
- Guide your team through 1st fix, (we can handle the data/AV cable installation if preferred)
- We terminate test, label and document properly at the end
Down the Line:
- When the client is ready for equipment, we handle the technology installation
- You've already been paid for the infrastructure work
- The client gets exactly what they want without retrofit costs
- Everyone looks professional
"Why Should I Bring in a Third Party?"
We understand the concern. You might think:
- It makes me look like I can't handle the full scope
- I'll lose margin or control
- It complicates the project
- The client might just go direct to a technology company
Here's the reality:
It makes you look MORE professional. Clients respect specialists. Saying "I work with a technology infrastructure specialist on high-end projects" shows you understand that luxury properties deserve expert input on every discipline.
You don't lose the work. You're still the electrical contractor. We're a specialist sub-consultant on the technology infrastructure element - just like you might work with a lighting designer or kitchen supplier. The Client relationship and electrical contract stays with you.
It's actually simpler. You're not guessing about cable specifications. You're not fielding questions about networking, AV equipment or control systems. You install what we've specified, and we take responsibility for ensuring it works.
You're protected. If the technology doesn't work as expected, it's our specification and our responsibility - not yours.
